It is the eastern version of Roman Thermae. The Hammam is a place of relaxion and meditation. It made of several rooms: an entry-dressing room (malash), followed by Tepidarium (room that predisposes the sweating) and finnaly the Calidarium (rich of hot and humid air). It stimulates the immune system, circulatory and respiratory system, makes elastic skin and determines a strong decrease of sterss and tension.

In the past, it was the equivalent of a modern boiler, creating heat for floors and walls. In modern wellness centres, it indicates a specific environment saturated with hot/moist air, with a temperature of about 50°-55°C and 50-60% humidity. This is achieved introducing steam and air and heating the benches, either electrically or hydraulically.

In ancient Rome, Patricians used to create these rooms where they could lie down and have their slaves introducing hot air through small openings in the walls. It was a place for sweating, also known as “Roman bath”. Modern wellness centres recreate this artificially, introducing hot air and heating the floor, the walls and the benches. The temperature gets to about 55/60°C and the environment is humidity free. The generous perspiration allows a natural detoxification of the body, effectively expelling all the toxins.

It comes from the East. It is also known as Turkish Bath or Hammam. Its function on the body is to increase the skin temperature by using steam. It is performed in an environment with a temperature of 43/45°C and 90% humidity. Blood vessels dilate, circulation improves all over the body, allowing a better removal of toxins by means of a generous perspiration.

“Your Hammam in a DOOR”, this, in a nutshell, is the idea behind DoorSteam by Aqua International, designed in collaboration with Arch. Talocci. The essence of the project is beig able to construct a hammam in any home, be it special area or in your bathroom shower.
With DoorSteam, Aqua International provides an easy-to-install door consisting of an opening glass panel and a column featuring all the necessary in your own home.

It’s a lukewarm area, with relaxing benches heated at a temperature of about 37°C, similar to the body temperature. Staying in this place can be a preparation for higher-temperature treatments or just a way to spend some relaxing and pleasant time.

The end of the route, after the Calidarium or Laconicum and the pause in Tepidarium, leads to an area with baths or showers with temperature water about 25/30° with toning effect on the body. In ancient times the cold bath was strongly recommended so it gave refreshment and strong the body.

The sense of smell has always been connected with strong emotions. Everywhere in the world, we can find perfumes that are related to nature, from papaya to mint, from pine to orange. The modern techniques allow to dissolve aromas in the steam or nebulize them in the environments. Aromatherapy in a cubicle add all the beneficial properties of plants to a simple steam bath.
